Fernwood Camp Ground is one of my favorite places to stay in Big Sur. This little adventure tent was perfect for our weekend getaway. The best part about this campground is that is literally in the middle of the forest. Out our window were giant trees and wildflowers. It rained pretty much the entire time we were in Big Sur and at night when we were in bed you could here the rain pouring down on the canvas roof, people pay for tapes with that sound! It was so peaceful and put us right to sleep. The tent itself was very clean and simple, it really made you feel at home. Check in is in the little red house at the bottom of the hill and someone is always there. Just a heads up, when you turn off the main road to head down into the campground it is a narrow one way road so just drive careful, especially if you are coming in at night. I would recommend this spot to anyone who wants to visit Big Sur. This adventure tent was $140 a night but you don't have to stay in the little cabins, you can camp too! There is something for everyone.
